This rifle's serial number prefix XR means it was part of a contract of rifles manufactured by the Nazi's for their Romanian allies. The serial number is 6778 P1 and above it is E (Lion crest) followed by 27. Contract rifles were also marked on the left rail in this manner with the appropriate crest of the country purchasing on the receiver.
